RULES OF DANCE OSTRAVA GRAND PRIX 2024

TYPE OF COMPETITION:

Open competition - GRAND PRIX

PARTICIPATION IN THE COMPETITION:

• Czech citizens

• International participation

PARTICIPANTS OF THE COMPETITION:

Competitions DANCE OSTRAVA GRAND PRIX can be attended by all dancers regardless of the membership in any club, or dance organization, also without club affiliation. It is also not a condition to become a member of any club. Each dancer can participate as many times as he/she wants in his/her category.

CATEGORIES BY AGE

MINI - BABY

Dancers who are no older than 7 years on the day of the competition.

KIDS

Children’s age category – Dancers who are at least 8 years old and no older than 11 years on the day of the competition. Dancers who are up to two years younger or two years older can be included in the formation, but their number must not exceed 50% of the total number of dancers in the formation.
Children 1 – 8 and 9 years old
Children 2 – 10 and 11 years old

JUNIORS

Junior age category – Dancers who are at least 12 years old and no older than 15 years on the day of the competition. Dancers who are up to two years younger or two years older can be included in the formation, but their number must not exceed 50% of the total number of dancers in the formation.
Juniors 1 – 12 and 13 years old
Juniors 2 – 14 and 15 years old

YOUTH

Youth age category – Dancers who are at least 16 years old and no older than 18 years on the day of the competition. Dancers who are up to two years younger can be included in the formation, but their number must not exceed 50% of the total number of dancers in the formation.

ADULTS

Adult age category – Dancers who are at least 19 years old and no older than 35 years on the day of the competition. Dancers who are up to two years younger or two years older can be included in the formation, but their number must not exceed 20% of the total number of dancers in the formation.

MASTERS

Senior age category – Dancers who are at least 36 years old on the day of the competition. There is no upper age limit. Dancers who are up to two years younger can be included in the formation, but their number must not exceed 20% of the total number of dancers in the formation.

NUMBER OF DANCERS:

  • SOLO – 1 dancer 
  • DUO – 2 dancers 
  • COUPLE – 2 dancers – male and female 
  • TRIO – 3 dancers 
  • LITTLE FORMATION – 4 – 7 dancers 
  • GREAT FORMATION – 8 – 30 dancers 
  • SHOWCASES – 31 – X dancers

LENGHT OF SHOW PERFORMANCE:

  • SOLO, DUO, TRIO:
    1:30 – 2:15 min. 
  • SMALL AND LARGE FORMATION:
    2:30 – 3:30 min. 
  • SHOWCASE:
    2:30 – 4:00 min 

SOLOS AND DUOS TO THE MUSIC OF THE ORGANIZER

  • All age categories will have at least 1 minute and a maximum of 1 minute and 30 seconds for their presentation during each round and group.

DESCRIPTION OF DISCIPLINES:

LATIN AND CARIBBEAN STYLE

In categories where dancing is performed to the organizer's music, the included dances are Latin-American (samba, cha cha, rumba, paso doble, jive) and Caribbean (salsa on1/on2, bachata, merengue). A show may consist of any of these dances. However, it must contain at least 50% Latin-American or Caribbean dance steps.

MUSIC - Own music for show disciplines, organizer's music for individual dances.

DECORATIONS – just in show BACKDROPS – just in show

REGGAETON

Combines Latin-American dances from the vibrant Caribbean with dancehall. Reggaeton mixes elements of reggae and dancehall with styles typical for Latin America, such as salsa, Latin pop, cumbia, and bachata, as well as hip hop and R&B.

MUSIC – solo, duo a trio music by organizator. Small and large formation music prepared by dancers.

DECORATIONS – no BACKDROPS – no

SCHOOL PRODUCTION

A choreography where the number of dancers is a minimum of 20 and a maximum of 99. There are no restrictions on age or dance styles. The condition is that dancers from at least two different age categories (mini-baby, children, juniors, youth, or adults) must participate. It is not allowed for all dancers to be from the same age category. This category is ideal for showcasing the entire dance school.

MUSIC – prepared by dancers. Decorations and backgrounds are good for this category
